Mary Hearn Hendela is an experienced leader whose career includes professional, executive and consultant roles in the healthcare, not-for-profit and voluntary sectors. This includes Board positions at the local, provincial and national levels. She has also been involved with the Council on Aging of Ottawa from its inception, serving on committees, the Board, and with program development including the first initiatives related to elder abuse.
She has developed, implemented and taught Board development and management programs including quality assurance, financial management, accountability, ethics, Board-staff relations, and Board evaluation.
Her educational background includes: MBA, Executive Program, University of Ottawa; Basic and Advanced Dispute Resolution, University of Windsor; BA, Health Services Administration; courses in gerontology, caring for and working with the elderly, paliative care. She also holds instructor certificates in emergency preparedness, team development and effectiveness, project management, and nursing management. She is a Registered Nurse with a graduate certificates in Nursing Management and Operating Room Management.
