Dancing is a way to exercise one’s brain and body\, to lift spirits\, to meet new friends. We dance wide variety of dances from 14th century to modern. But as our needs change\, our homes may need to change too. In this practical session\, Kyla MacGinnis\, Clinical Nurse Specialist\, Professor at the University of Ottawa\, and co-founder of BuildABLE — will explore how thoughtful home renovations can support safety\, independence\, and long-term well-being. Kyla bridges healthcare and construction to help homeowners make informed\, proactive decisions about aging in place. \nParticipants will learn: \n\nModifications that significantly improve safety and reduce fall risk\nSmart renovation strategies that adapt to changing mobility and health needs\nHow to prioritize upgrades based on lifestyle and budget\nFunding options\, tax credits\, and grants available to Canadian homeowners\nCommon renovation pitfalls — and how to avoid them\n\nThis session is designed specifically for older adults who want to maintain independence\, reduce risk\, and future-proof their homes — without sacrificing comfort or style. Attendees will leave with practical knowledge\, clear next steps\, and greater confidence in planning accessible renovations. \nThe content will be presented in English\, however bilingual participation is encouraged.
