Monthly Driving Tip – If you had a traffic violation

A police giving a traffic violation

If you had a traffic violation and you took a while to pay the fine, your driver’s license might be suspended without your knowledge. This would mean that you would not be covered in case of a collision. You might want to check online the status of your license by looking for Driver’s license check on the Service Ontario website or by calling Service Ontario’s Driver and vehicle Contact Centre 1-800-267-8097.

Never ignore correspondence from MTO.

Drivers are legally required to provide change of address notification to MTO within 6 days. Online or at Service Ontario.

For detailed information read the ombudsman report: https://ombudsman.on.ca/Media/ombudsman/ombudsman/resources/Reports-on-Investigations/MTO-Final-EN-small-accessible.pdf
