211: The one number to know to help you navigate some of life’s challenges – with 211 Ontario

211 is the easiest way to navigate social services, community services, government programs, the health system, senior services, stability supports, and more.
This conversation and dialogue will include the description of the 211 system that exists across Canada. It is a 24-hour, 7 days a week number that you can call to speak with a live person, however, if you prefer you can text, chat, or email.
The presentation will outline how the system works, the standards that must be maintained in doing 211 work, and explain the philosophy behind 211.
We have all the experience of calling one number and being told, “No, not the right number. Call this number, call the next…” and the pattern repeats. The beauty of 211 is that the highly trained Community Navigators will assess the issue or support required and, as a result of that assessment, will connect you to the right help or information that you need. When you don’t know where to turn, call 211.
The content will be presented in English, however bilingual participation is encouraged. La présentation se fera en anglais, mais la participation dans les deux langues officielles est encouragée.
