HorsePower for Seniors

HorsePower for Seniors is a free, innovative program designed for people 55+ years, focusing on reducing social isolation, loneliness, and improving quality of life. Our Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) program fosters meaningful bonds between horses and seniors through:

  • Hands-on, in-person experiential learning: Engage in ground-based, unmounted activities that promote connection and trust with horses.
  • Low-pressure interactions: Enjoy pleasant, mindful interactions with horses in a safe and stimulating farm environment.
  • Socialization and community building: Connect with others in the group through tea/coffee and refreshments.

Program Highlights:

  • 6 week program: Meet once a week for one and a half (1 ½) hours and experience the benefits of horse interaction.
  • Simple exercises and horse trivia: Engage in fun activities that promote learning and connection with horses.
  • Greeting and grooming horses: Learn how to interact with horses in a safe and respectful manner.
  • Mindful moments: Focus on the present and build a sense of calm and well-being.
