Biography: Elaine is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences and a Researcher at the Centre for Education and Research on Aging & Health at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Her work aims to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions of older people and people with dementia and bridges the gap between research and practice.

Presentation Objectives: This presentation will provide an overview of the development and operation of Dementia Gardens: A Place to Grow, an outdoor nature based initiative that includes an adult day program for people living with dementia. Emerging findings from research on the first season of Dementia Gardens will be shared, along with the benefits and challenges of developing and running an outdoor program for people with dementia.
