Biography:
- Dr. Kayne Park is a postdoctoral researcher at uOttawa with a background in Electrical Engineering (BSc) and Neuroscience (PhD) both attained at Queen’s University. His current position at uOttawa is focused on studying the effects that age can have on our neurological function. His most recent project is looking to examine how age and frailty can affect our behaviour using robot-based video games. His research aims to highlight how novel approaches like robotic testing can improve our assessment of neurological function in ways that common clinical tests are unable to – potentially providing greater insight into the mechanisms of neurological (dys)function.
Presentation Objectives:
The objective of this presentation is to showcase the feasibility and preliminary results of a recent robot-based training study to improve engagement in physical activity. Attendees will learn:
- The purpose and design of feasibility studies
- Automatic vs intentional behaviours
- The design of training protocols
