Closing the Gap: How Philanthropy is Transforming Mental Health Care at The Royal

March 5 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

This webinar will shine a light on the gap in mental health treatment and the critical role philanthropy plays in transforming the lives of those living with mental illness and addictions. Currently, only a small fraction of people who need help get effective care, and it can take years for new treatments to actually reach those who need them most.  The Royal is leading the way in closing that gap, using donations to increase access to ground-breaking treatments like neuromodulation and suicide prevention research.

Through real-life patient stories, you will learn how philanthropy is turning research into real, accessible treatments for those who need them now. You will be inspired to learn how community support can make a lasting impact on mental health care, so more people get the timely, effective treatments they deserve.

More info on our presenter:

Tracy Donahue brings 23 years of healthcare philanthropy experience in Ottawa to her role as Director of Philanthropy at the Royal Ottawa Foundation, where she leads a group of philanthropic facilitators to drive transformative change in mental health care. Since joining the Foundation in May 2024, she and her team are focused on building strong partnerships with philanthropists in support of The Royal’s vision to expand access to essential mental health services and to improve care by fuelling new discoveries.

Previously, Tracy spent over a decade at the CHEO Foundation, where she worked closely with donors to improve child and youth healthcare, with a special emphasis on mental health care and research. She and her team played a key role in securing funding to address the mental health crisis among young people, helping to fund innovative research and expand critical care programs.

Her career also includes leadership roles at the Bruyère Foundation, where she played an integral role in successfully completing its largest capital fundraising campaign in the organization’s history.  Outside of her professional life, Tracy is a proud mother to a 18-year-old son and wife of 23 years to her husband who is a federal public servant at Natural Resources Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University and a post-graduate diploma in Public Relations from Humber College.

The content will be presented in English, however bilingual participation is encouraged.
