NIA 2023 Ageing in Canada Survey Forum: Insights on Growing Older in Canada

How well are ageing Canadians being supported when it comes to their social well-being, financial security, and health and independence? This timely event will share the newest findings from the NIA’s latest annual Ageing in Canada Survey, part of a decade-long annual research program designed to track older Canadians’ experiences, perspectives, and expectations around ageing.

The 2023 NIA Ageing in Canada Survey is the first follow-up to the NIA’s inaugural benchmark survey in 2022, the first comprehensive, large-scale, public-oriented annual survey tracking perspectives on ageing in Canada. The survey provides key indicators that make it possible to track Canada’s progress — and challenges— on enabling healthy ageing.

Join us for a conversation on the findings, which will provide critical insights into the experience of growing older in Canada and opportunities to improve the social, financial and health policy landscape for older Canadians.

The event will be opened by Dr. Cynthia Holmes, Dean of the Ted Rogers School of Management and will include a presentation from co-authors Natalie Iciaszczyk, Research Program Manager at the NIA, and Keith Neuman, Senior Associate at the Environics Institute, as well as an interactive discussion of what the findings mean for our ageing population and the future of Canada. The discussion will be moderated by Alyssa Brierley, Executive Director of the NIA and will feature Dr. Samir Sinha, Director of Health Policy Research at the NIA, Dr. Bonnie-Jeanne MacDonald, Director of Financial Security Research at the NIA, and Moira Welsh, Investigative Reporter with the Toronto Star.
