The Walk of Ages 2025

Through the Walk of Ages, we take another step towards our vision of having respected, informed, and engaged older adults living in an age-friendly city. No matter a person’s age, their cultural, ethnic, political, and religious backgrounds, and gender and sexual orientation identities, we are all aging. It is something that we all share. Our goal is to cause a shift in thinking that aging is only for older adults. That barriers be broken, and we all take up the cause of aging. And that intergenerational connectivity would begin to form.

The Walk

Participants can choose to either Walk or Roll along the route, making the event accessible for everyone. You can join the guided option, Walk This Way (inspired by Aerosmith), which features interactive movements along the path, or opt to Go Your Own Way (inspired by Fleetwood Mac) and Walk or Roll at your own pace and style. Either way, it’s all about moving in a way that feels right for you!

Booths

Connect with the Council and explore the important work of our committees—covering housing, transportation, income security, health, and Francophone Affairs. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions, engage in meaningful conversations, and discover how you can get involved in advocating for a more age-friendly Ottawa. Other community partners will also be on-site, offering additional ways to learn, connect, and engage with local services supporting older adults.

Activities

Choose from a variety of fun activities including an energizing warm-up led by AIM Fitness, an inflatable bounce castle for kids, a wide selection of yard games for all ages to enjoy, face painting and button making. It’s a great way to celebrate community, movement, and connection across generations.

Live Music

This year’s event will feature live music from three different acts, with performances happening throughout the day. Bring a lawn chair, sit back, and enjoy the sounds as part of the celebration. Stay tuned for more details!

Cash BBQ

A cash BBQ will be available on-site where you can grab drinks, hot dogs, and hamburgers. All meat options are Halal, and vegetarian choices will also be offered—something for everyone to enjoy while taking in the day’s festivities.
